Former IGPs Pledge Support for Inspector General Disu

On Tuesday, five former Inspectors General of Police (IGPs) visited the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja to express their support for the current Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu. The delegation, which included Aliyu Attah, Mike Okiro, Ogbonna Onovo, Suleiman Abba, and Usman Alkali Baba, highlighted the significance of backing the current leadership, acknowledging the challenges faced by the police force.

Aliyu Giwa, the new media officer, disclosed that the visit aimed to underscore the importance of institutional support. The former IGPs offered their experience and mentorship to Disu, conveying a clear message of advice and support for sustainable reforms within the police force.

Disu was sworn in as the 23rd Inspector General of Police on March 4, 2026, during a ceremony attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima and other top government officials. The visit was characterized by a demonstration of confidence in Disu's leadership and the historical role of the police in Nigeria.
