Oyo Police Rescue Kidnapping Victims, Arrest Suspects

On Thursday, June 29, 2026, the Oyo State Police Command announced the rescue of two kidnapping victims from Gbonka Forest in the Oorelop Local Government Area. The operation was initiated after a distress report was received regarding an attack by armed men who had abducted three adult males, identified as Alhaji Usman Abubakar, Aliu Usman, and Saliu Abubakar.

The police, under the direction of the Commissioner of Police, coordinated a robust joint security operation involving the Oyo State Police Command, Amotekun Corps, Vigilant Group Nigeria, and local hunters. Upon approaching the kidnappers' hideout, the armed men opened fire in an attempt to evade arrest, leading to a fierce gun duel.

During the encounter, one suspect was neutralized, and a member of the Vigilant Group Nigeria sustained injuries. The operation successfully led to the arrest of four suspected kidnappers.
