FMITI Plans Policy Shift to Boost Nigeria's Productivity by 2026

The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI) is targeting improved productivity through the implementation of new policies by the year 2026. This initiative, led by Senator John Owan Enoh, aims to create a paradigm shift in policy design and delivery, focusing on enhancing Nigeria's economic productivity.

The 2026 outlook emphasizes the need for credible and consistent industrial policies that deliver products and create competitive jobs. Key priorities include increasing non-oil exports, mobilizing foreign direct investment (FDI), and strengthening domestic production capacities.

The ministry plans to implement a structured approach that includes eight priority areas, such as developing industrial clusters and supporting women-led businesses. Additionally, the FMITI will conduct a national MSME census to provide reliable data for industrial planning and target incentives to measure the impact of productivity improvements.

The overarching goal is to consolidate and sustain growth in exports and job creation, thereby enhancing Nigeria's industrial landscape.
