Murray-Bruce Urges Innoson to Focus on Electric Vehicles

Ben Murray-Bruce, founder of the Silverbird Group, has urged Innocent Chukwuma, founder of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, to focus on electric vehicles as the company's primary line of production. In a post on X on Tuesday, Murray-Bruce praised Chukwuma for establishing Nigeria’s indigenous automobile manufacturing company and producing locally made vehicles.

He acknowledged Innoson's efforts in electric vehicle production, specifically mentioning the EX02 and the new plant in Nnewi. Murray-Bruce argued that the economic realities, such as rising petrol prices above ₦1,300 per litre and Nigeria's abundant solar energy, favor the adoption of electric vehicles.

He emphasized that electric cars have fewer moving parts, leading to lower maintenance costs, which can save families money and reduce Nigeria's expenditure on fuel imports. Additionally, he pointed out Nigeria's lithium deposits in Nasarawa State as a resource that could support the electric vehicle sector and urged Innoson to accelerate its investment in this area.
