Tinubu Meets Folarin to Support APC's Alli for Oyo 2027

On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu met with former Senate Leader Teslim Folarin at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to garner support for Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election. This meeting is part of efforts to unite major stakeholders within the Oyo APC and address ongoing divisions ahead of the February 2027 election.

Folarin, who was the APC governorship candidate in the 2023 election and lost to Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party, did not participate in the primaries that led to Alli's selection. Alli was endorsed as the party's candidate on July 2, following a contentious selection process that included other prominent aspirants like Adebayo Adelabu.

The emergence of Alli has sparked controversy, with some party members, including a group of aggrieved aspirants known as G5, expressing dissatisfaction with the process. The APC leadership has called for reconciliation to strengthen the party's position against the PDP.
