NALDA to Transform Degraded Forests into Farms

The National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA), led by Executive Secretary Cornelius Adebayo, has announced an ambitious plan to convert degraded forest reserves across Nigeria into agricultural estates. This initiative aims to expand food production and create economic opportunities while addressing criminal activities in these areas.

NALDA will partner with state governments, including Kwara, Niger, Katsina, Plateau, Bauchi, and Ekiti, to rehabilitate abandoned lands for large-scale farming. The program will cover at least 5,000 hectares and provide farmers with access to irrigation, mechanization, and financial services.

Additionally, NALDA will implement the Green Hope Project, focusing on horticulture and empowering 4,000 women with access to irrigated farmland and training. The project will also establish fish villages in the Niger Delta to boost domestic fish production.

This comprehensive approach aligns with the government's agenda to unlock Nigeria's agricultural potential.
