NALDA Launches Green Hope Project for Women Farmers

The National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) has launched its flagship Green Hope Project, which aims to increase year-round vegetable production and improve food security in Nigeria. The project targets 4,000 women as primary beneficiaries, as stated by Engr.

Cornelius Adebayo, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of NALDA. The initiative features a comprehensive three-layer agricultural model designed to decentralize vegetable production, ensuring fresh produce is cultivated closer to consumers.

The project includes greenhouse facilities and has already commenced in several locations, including Ogun State and Giri in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with the greenhouse project in Abuja nearing completion. NALDA plans to replicate the Green Hope model across every federal constituency in the country.

The project aims to create sustainable livelihoods, particularly for rural women, by providing them with farmland and essential infrastructure, including solar power irrigation systems. It also incorporates agroforestry practices to enhance climate resilience and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
