Joint Security Operation Rescues Nine Kidnap Victims in Kwara

On Wednesday, a joint security operation involving Kwara State-recruited Forest Guards and operatives from the Department of State Services successfully rescued nine kidnap victims in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. The operation took place in the Obbo-Aiyegunle, Ejiu-Ora, and Osi areas, which border Ekiti and Kogi states.

The victims had been abducted from Eju community after a local market and were being transported through a forest route towards Niger State when the security team intervened. Umaru Muazu, one of the rescued victims, described how he and his son were seized at gunpoint.

Another victim, Ibrahim Danga, confirmed they were held briefly before being rescued. Kwara Forest Guards member Owolabi Adebayo reported that the operation resulted in the neutralization of three suspected bandits, with one victim receiving treatment for injuries.

Adebayo called for improved logistics and equipment to enhance operations against criminal groups. The Chief Security Officer of Ekiti Local Government Area, Agbemuko Gabriel, praised the Forest Guards for their significant contributions to local security efforts.
