DSS and Forest Guards Rescue Nine Victims in Kwara

An intelligence-led operation conducted by the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Kwara State Forest Guards in Ekiti Local Government Area, Kwara State, resulted in the death of three suspected bandits and the rescue of nine victims. The operation took place in the Obbo Aiyegunle, Ejiu Ora, and Osi areas, which border Ekiti State.
The victims included farmers who had been abducted from their farmlands and other locations. The operation was confirmed by Prince Dada Sunday, Chief Press Secretary to the chairman of Ekiti LGA, who stated that the kidnappers, numbering over ten, were overwhelmed by security operatives.
One victim sustained serious head injuries during the abduction attempt. Rescued victim Umaru Muazu recounted the traumatic experience of being seized at gunpoint along with his son.
A member of the Kwara Forest Guards, Owolabi Adebayo, reported that the bandits were heavily armed and called for more operational equipment to effectively combat such threats.
