Aondoakaa Condemns Killings in Benue, Calls for Action

Michael Aondoakaa (SAN), the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State, condemned the attack on Abaashwa community in Mbaasar, Nzorov Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area, where suspected armed herdsmen killed four individuals. In a statement issued by his media aide, James Ian, Aondoakaa described the attack as “barbaric, heartbreaking and yet another painful reminder of the worsening security situation in Benue State.” He extended condolences to the families of the deceased and expressed concern over the deteriorating security, emphasizing that effective security should focus on preventing attacks rather than merely responding to them.

Aondoakaa highlighted that recurring attacks have instilled fear in the community, threatening the agricultural economy. He urged the state government to prioritize the protection of lives and property and ensure that victims receive prompt medical attention, especially amid ongoing industrial action by doctors in the state.

He prayed for the souls of the deceased and for healing for the injured.
