Santi Cazorla Retires from Football at Age 41

Santi Cazorla, the former Arsenal and Spain midfielder, officially retired from football at the age of 41 on Thursday. His career spanned two decades, during which he notably helped Real Oviedo reach La Liga in 2025.

Cazorla's final season in the Spanish top flight concluded with his retirement, marking the end of a distinguished playing career. He began his professional journey at Villarreal, later joining Arsenal in 2012, where he won two FA Cups in 2014 and 2015.

Cazorla also contributed to Spain's success in the European Championships in 2008 and 2012, although he missed the 2010 World Cup due to injuries. After a stint with Qatari side Al Sadd, he returned to Real Oviedo in the second division in 2023.

Cazorla decided to earn a minimum salary to allow the league to donate his image rights to the club, emphasizing his commitment to Real Oviedo's youth academy and future development.
