Former FCT Minister Akinjide Resigns from PDP

Akinjide, the former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately. In her resignation letter addressed to the Ward 1 Chairman of the PDP in Ona Ara Local Government Area, Oyo State, she described the decision as difficult, reflecting on her long-standing membership since 2001.

Akinjide expressed gratitude for the opportunities and relationships built during her time in the party. She served as Minister of State for FCT from July 2011 to 2015 under former President Goodluck Jonathan and briefly as the Supervising Minister for Police Affairs in 2014.

Additionally, she held roles as Special Assistant to the President on FCT matters and later on G77 matters concerning the Nigerian diaspora. Following her exit from the PDP, there are strong indications that Akinjide may join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
