Dr Tom Ohikere Advocates Kogi West Governorship Rotation

Dr Tom Ohikere, the former Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Convener of the Coalition for Better Kogi State, has called for the governorship to rotate to Kogi West in 2028, emphasizing the need for equity and fairness. In a statement released in Lokoja, he noted that Kogi East has held the governorship for 17 years and Kogi Central for 10 years, while Kogi West has not governed since the state's creation.

Ohikere, an Ebira man from Okene, insists that his support for Kogi West is based on fairness rather than ethnic interests. He criticized the planned Kogi Unity and Power Rotation Summit scheduled for September 30 and October 1, 2026, claiming it is biased as it is organized by current government officials.

Instead, he announced that the Coalition for Better Kogi State would host a "Kogi Equity, Unity and Rotation National Summit" in Abuja in the third week of October 2026, aiming to create a "Kogi Charter of Equity" for political parties and stakeholders.
