APC's Danladi Halilu Wins Nasarawa North By-Election

In the Nasarawa North senatorial by-election conducted on June 20, 2023, Danladi Halilu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious, receiving 45,362 votes. This election was held to fill the vacancy created by the death of former senator Godiya Akwashiki.

Aminu Ali confirmed that Halilu met all legal requirements to be declared the winner. The Labour Party's Emmanuel David Ombugadu secured second place with 12,931 votes, while the People's Democratic Party's (PDP) candidate, Alaku Moham Steve Ahm, received 11,570 votes.

Other candidates included Duba Ishaya Dodo from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) with 1,496 votes and John Paul Araneshri from the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) with 102 votes. The APC's victory ensures the party retains the senatorial seat.
