Former NFF Leaders Demand FIFA Normalisation Committee

Ahead of a meeting in Abuja, former presidents and general secretaries of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) have jointly petitioned FIFA and CAF for the establishment of a six-month Normalisation Committee to reform Nigerian football governance. The petition is endorsed by notable figures including former NFF presidents Sani Lulu Abdullahi and Aminu Maigari, former first vice president Obinna Ogba, and former general secretaries Fanny Amun, Sani Toro, Bolaji Ojo-Oba, and Musa Amadu.

The signatories argue that the stagnation and loss of public trust in Nigerian football result from deep-seated structural flaws. They propose a structured transition involving stakeholder consultations, local football council elections, State FA elections, an expanded NFF Congress, and national NFF elections.

Key reforms include rebalance voting power, expanded eligibility for leadership positions, and professional governance. They urge FIFA and CAF to create a transparent governance framework for the future of Nigerian football, integrating insights from previous reform reports.
