Fortis Global Insurance (FTGINSURE) Appoints Two New Directors

Fortis Global Insurance Plc (NGX: FTGINSURE) has disclosed the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM)-approved appointments of two new board members: Dr Umar Faruk Umar as Independent Non-Executive Director and Mr Ufuoma Ibru as Non-Executive Director.

Dr Umar Faruk Umar holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin and has completed executive programmes at Harvard University, Stanford University, and INSEAD. He brings over 40 years of professional experience, including more than 30 years of board and corporate governance experience. He has previously served on the boards of Ashaka Cement Plc, CCNN Plc, and NAHCO Plc, and currently sits on the boards of GTL Registrars Limited and the Nigerian Capital Market Development Fund.

Mr Ufuoma Ibru is a legal practitioner holding a Bachelor of Law from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronic Engineering from the University of London. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2003. He has previously served on the boards of Ikeja Hotel Plc, The Tourist Company of Nigeria Plc, and Icon Stockbrokers Limited.

With these appointments, the Fortis Global Insurance board now includes Chairman Akin Iroko and Managing Director Nomwen Emeghalu, among others. The filing was signed by Company Secretary Halima Jimada.
