Four Dead, Five Injured in Lagos and Ogun Road Crashes

On Wednesday, four individuals lost their lives and five others were injured in two separate road crashes in Ogun and Lagos states. The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency reported that three people died and three were injured in a head-on collision between a Mercedes-Benz truck and a crane on the Sagamu-Benin Expressway, near Babcock University Junction in Ikenne.

The crash occurred around 5 am, involving a white Mercedes-Benz truck (registration number LG 59 BLF) and a yellow crane without a registration number. Eyewitnesses indicated that the crane driver was speeding and driving against traffic.

The injured were taken to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, while the deceased were transported to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital morgue. In Lagos, one person died and two were injured in a multiple-vehicle collision involving a Mack flat-bed trailer, a Toyota mini truck, and two motorcycles along New Road by Coastal Road.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority attributed this crash to excessive speeding by the trailer driver. The injured were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital.
