Akpabio Swears in Four New Senators Across Nigeria

On a recent date, Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, swore in four new Senators during a plenary session. The newly inaugurated Senators include Franci Faduyil from the All Progressives Congress (APC), representing Ondo South, who replaces Jimoh Ibrahim; Godiya Akwashiki from APC, representing Nasarawa North, who takes over from Senator Godiya Akwashiki; Okei Ezea from APC, representing Enugu North, replacing Senator Okei Ezea; and Olaka Nwogu from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), representing Rivers South East, who replaces Senator Barri Mpigi.

The terms for these Senators vary, with Faduyil and Akwashiki's terms ending in December 2025, Ezea's in November 2025, and Nwogu's in February 2026. Following the swearing-in, Akpabio congratulated the newly inaugurated Senators, bringing the total number of Senators to 109, comprising 88 from APC, 9 from ADC, 5 from PDP, 4 from NDC, 1 from APGA, 1 from LP, and 1 from Accord.
