Four Police Officers Face Disciplinary Action for Misconduct

The Nigeria Police Force has initiated disciplinary proceedings against four officers captured in a viral video for allegedly acting unprofessionally and making derogatory ethnic remarks during a stop-and-search operation on the Lagos-Benin Expressway. The officers involved include one Assistant Superintendent of Police and three Inspectors, who have been identified and taken into custody pending an orderly room trial.

Chief Superintendent of Police Ani Iniedu, the Force Public Relations Officer, issued a statement on Saturday confirming these actions. Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has directed the Commissioner of Police for the Ondo State Command to conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain each officer's level of involvement and to ensure appropriate sanctions are applied.

The police leadership condemned the officers' conduct, stating it does not reflect the values of the Nigeria Police Force and emphasized that ethnic profiling and disrespect towards citizens will not be tolerated.
