PSC Dismisses Four Senior Officers, Sanctions 31 Others

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed four senior police officers due to gross misconduct and unprofessional conduct. The decision was made during a plenary meeting held at the PSC's corporate headquarters in Abuja.

The officers dismissed include three Superintendents of Police and one Deputy Superintendent of Police. Additionally, 31 other officers received various disciplinary sanctions, including rank reductions for ten senior officers, with three being demoted from Superintendent to Deputy Superintendent, and others facing reductions down to the rank of Inspector.

Two officers were compulsorily retired in the public interest. The commission also issued severe reprimands to ten officers, warnings to five, and advisory letters to three.

Seven officers were exonerated. Chairman of the PSC, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (Rtd), reiterated the board's zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline within the Nigerian police force and emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline and accountability.
