Imo Police Detain Four Officers for Misconduct in Viral Video

The Imo State Police Command has ordered the detention of four police personnel due to unprofessional conduct during an operation, which was captured in a viral video. The incident occurred on Sunday at Human Race Road, Nekede, where the officers were conducting an operation at a suspected drug trafficking location.

The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects, one of whom admitted to selling illicit drugs. The Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, has mandated an immediate investigation to identify the involved personnel and understand the incident's circumstances.

According to the Public Relations Officer, Okoye Henry, the four personnel included two officers from the Nekede Divisional Headquarters and two Supernumerary Police Officers. The police condemned the actions depicted in the video, particularly the manner in which a suspect was forced into a vehicle's boot, describing it as unacceptable and inhumane.

The case has been referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation, and disciplinary procedures against the officers have commenced.
