Troops Rescue Six Victims from Bandits in Katsina

On June 29, 2026, troops from the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army rescued six kidnapping victims, comprising four women and two young boys, in Katsina State. The victims, identified as Umaima Isiaku (30), Amina Isiaku (16), Safiya Isiaku (15), Ramatu Suleiman (30), Muhammad Shehu (4), and Ibrahim Suleiman (2), had escaped from their captors after being abducted by armed bandits in Unguwan Lado, Kankara Local Government Area on June 22, 2026.

The rescue occurred during a routine foot patrol in Unguwan Doka, where the victims were found wandering in the bush. Following their rescue, the victims received first aid, food, and essential support, and were subsequently reunited with their families.

Brigadier General Ishaya Ibrahim, the commander of the 17 Brigade, reaffirmed the army's commitment to ongoing operations against criminal elements in the region to ensure the safety and security of lives and property.
