France's FFF Withdraws Support for Infantino's FIFA Bid

The French Football Federation (FFF) declared on Thursday that it will not support Gianni Infantino's candidacy for a new term as FIFA president in the upcoming election scheduled for March 2027. This decision aligns the FFF with other European federations, including Belgium, Italy, Scotland, Sweden, and Wales, which have also publicly withdrawn their support for Infantino.

FIFA confirmed last weekend that Infantino, who is currently 56 years old, will stand for re-election despite facing backlash over his now-abandoned proposal to introduce private investment into both the men's and women's World Cups. Philippe Diallo, president of the FFF, stated that the trust placed in the FIFA president has been betrayed and that the governance of world football no longer reflects the federation's values.

The FFF's decision was made unanimously by its members, emphasizing their discontent with Infantino's leadership.
