Timi Frank Alleges Plot Against El-Rufai, Seeks US Help

Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has alleged a covert plan to eliminate former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. In a statement issued on Sunday, Frank called for the immediate release of businessman Tunde Ayeni, claiming to have received reliable information from sources within Nigeria's security agencies about a plot against El-Rufai orchestrated by top government officials.

He expressed concern for El-Rufai's safety, warning that harm could come to him while in custody. Frank criticized the judiciary for participating in what he described as a politically motivated detention of El-Rufai, who has been incarcerated for four months on charges he argues are typically bailable.

He also raised issues regarding the selective prosecution of political figures, contrasting El-Rufai's situation with that of other politicians like Ifeanyi Okowa, who have faced allegations but remain free. Frank urged the judiciary not to be used as a tool for political repression and called for investigations into the alleged abuses of state institutions.
