Team Nigeria Welcomes Star Athletes for Commonwealth Games

Team Nigeria's athletics contingent received a significant boost ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games with the arrival of two top athletes, Ella Onojuvwevwo and Temitope Adeshina, in Glasgow, Scotland. Ella Onojuvwevwo, a world-class 400m runner ranked 18th globally, arrived on Sunday, bringing excitement to the Nigerian camp before the athletics competition begins on Monday, July 27, at Scotstoun Stadium.

She is in excellent form, having recorded a season's best of 49.47 seconds in the 400m, positioning her as a leading medal contender. Temitope Adeshina, a three-time Nigerian champion in high jump and currently ranked 13th in the world, also joined the team, holding the national record with a season's best clearance of 1.97m.

The presence of both athletes has significantly lifted the morale and optimism within Team Nigeria as they prepare to compete for medals.
