Adeshina and Onojuvwevwo Arrive for Commonwealth Games

Temitope Adeshina and Ella Onojuvwevwo have arrived in Glasgow as athletics events commence at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Both athletes joined Team Nigeria's camp over the weekend.

Adeshina, the Nigerian record holder in the women’s high jump, is competing in her second Commonwealth Games after debuting in Birmingham 2022. The 27-year-old faced travel issues that delayed her arrival, which was resolved when she arrived on Saturday.

Adeshina had an impressive 2026 NCAA season, remaining unbeaten and winning all available indoor and outdoor titles, heading into the Games with a season’s best clearance of 1.97m. Ella Onojuvwevwo, a 21-year-old athlete from LSU, is making her Commonwealth Games debut and is expected to participate in the women’s 4x400m relay event.

She arrives in Glasgow in excellent form, having achieved a season’s best of 49.47 seconds in the women’s 400m.
