Ex-Algeria Ambassador: Friendly Nations Won't Reject Nigeria's Envoys Despite Concerns

The former Algerian Ambassador to Nigeria has stated that friendly nations are unlikely to reject Nigeria's envoys, even President Bola Tinubu's recent nominee, despite concerns about the short tenure ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking to Punch, the ex-ambassador highlighted the importance of reciprocity in diplomacy and noted that long-standing cordial relations between Nigeria and other countries would ensure that agreements are granted.

He drew a clear distinction between career diplomats and political appointees, cautioning that the latter may face challenges, especially during election periods. He warned that political appointees, due to their short runway before the next electoral cycle, may struggle to have a meaningful impact on the host country.
