FRSC Urges Motorists to Avoid Kara Bridge After Crashes

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, has advised motorists to avoid the Kara Bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway due to multiple road traffic crashes that occurred early Friday, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. The first crash, at approximately 12:05 a.m., involved five articulated trucks and a Toyota Sienna, attributed to excessive speed and loss of vehicle control.

Seven adult males were involved; one died, another was injured, and five escaped unhurt. Recovery efforts were complicated as the deceased was trapped under a truck.

A second incident occurred at 3:15 a.m. involving a Mazda commercial bus due to brake failure, with the driver sustaining serious injuries and requiring medical attention. The Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Ganiyu Hamzat, expressed condolences to the victims' families and urged motorists to cooperate with traffic management officials.

The FRSC recommended avoiding the Kara-Ojodu Berger corridor until recovery operations are completed.
