FRSC Recovers Stolen Toyota Corolla in Anambra
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS5.3 Anambra Sector Command, recovered a suspected stolen Toyota Corolla during routine vehicle documentation at the Anambra National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) Desk Office in Awka. SRC Margaret B Onabe, the Sector Public Education Officer, reported that the vehicle was discovered on Tuesday when a Road Safety officer attempted to document it.
Discrepancies in the chassis number were noted, prompting further investigation. It was found that the chassis number had been altered, with the digit “1” changed to the letter “I.” The vehicle had an ownership record indicating it was stolen after the registered owner's wife was abducted on October 29, 2022.
Mr. Onyejiaka Lawrence Onyebuchi, who presented the vehicle for documentation, was arrested by police for further investigation. The original owner, Bro.
Arinze Obasi, provided ownership documents, and the dealer who sold the vehicle to Onyejiaka was also arrested. The vehicle was parked at the RS5.3 Anambra Sector Command, while the suspects are in custody at the SCID for further investigation and potential prosecution.
