FRSC Recovers Firearm from Crash Scene in Anambra

On Friday at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Rescue Patrol Team from the Anambra State Sector Command recovered a double barrel gun from a road traffic crash scene along the Awka-Enugu Expressway. The firearm was discovered concealed among luggage inside one of the crashed vehicles during a routine inventory of victims’ belongings after rescue operations.

Following established operational procedures, the rescue team secured the firearm to prevent unauthorized access and subsequently handed it over to the Nigeria Police Force, as no claimant or valid documentation for the weapon was found at the scene. Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed commended the professionalism and vigilance of the rescue team, emphasizing the FRSC's growing contribution to national security beyond its primary responsibility of road traffic management.

He assured that the FRSC would continue to collaborate with security and law enforcement agencies to protect lives and property while supporting national security objectives.
