FRSC Recovers Two Suspected Stolen Vehicles in Edo

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) successfully recovered two suspected stolen vehicles in separate operations in Edo State, utilizing its National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS). The recovered vehicles and the suspects were handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and potential prosecution.

Osondu Ohaeri, the corps spokesperson, reported that the first recovery involved a Silver Toyota Highlander presented for verification at the FRSC NVIS New Benin Office by officials from the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) along with a suspect. During the verification, discrepancies were found in the vehicle's registration number KSF730GK, which, although appearing valid, was not assigned to any vehicle.

A check of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) revealed a different registration number and ownership details. The registered owner confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen in Lagos in June 2025, providing supporting evidence.

The authentic registration on the NVIS database for the recovered vehicle is AKD339JN.
