Fubara Urges Swift Action on Rivers Gas Leakage Crisis

On Wednesday, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State demanded a prompt and comprehensive resolution to the gas leakage problem affecting Degema Local Government Area. This call was made during an enlarged meeting held at the Government House in Port Harcourt, which included key stakeholders such as representatives from the federal government and community leaders.

Fubara pledged to upgrade primary healthcare centers to better address health challenges in the community. He acknowledged the federal government's commitment to identifying the root cause of the gas leakage and ensuring a permanent solution.

The meeting also involved discussions on the need for collaboration between the federal government and local authorities to protect residents from environmental pollution. Federal Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ekperikp Ekpo, expressed appreciation for Fubara's efforts and clarified that the federal government is actively working to find sustainable solutions to the issue.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, represented by Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, also pledged to assist in addressing the community's needs.
