Oyintiloye Supports Tinubu's Fuel Subsidy Removal

Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, addressed journalists in Osogbo, discussing the challenges and implications of the fuel subsidy removal initiated by President Bola Tinubu. He described the fuel subsidy regime as a significant financial burden on Nigeria, emphasizing that the decision to remove it was difficult but essential for sustainable economic growth.

Oyintiloye noted that Nigerians are beginning to understand the necessity of this policy, which aims to correct long-standing structural distortions in the economy. He highlighted that the funds saved from the subsidy removal are being redirected to critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, transportation, and agriculture.

He argued that the reform would reduce the government's fiscal burden, improve budgetary discipline, and enhance investment incentives in domestic refining and the downstream petroleum sector. Oyintiloye concluded that the resources saved must be invested in development and productive initiatives, reflecting the positive outcomes of President Tinubu's decision.
