Ghana and South Africa Set for 2027 Women’s World Cup Playoffs

Ghana and South Africa have identified their opponents in the preliminary phase of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 Play-Off Tournament, following a draw held on August 20, 2026, in Zurich, Switzerland. They are among six teams, including Ecuador, Uzbekistan, Papua New Guinea, and Chinese Taipei, competing for spots in the final phase of the intercontinental playoffs.

The preliminary phase will occur during the international window from November 24 to December 5, 2026, with venues, dates, and kick-off times to be confirmed later. The top two teams from this phase will advance to the final phase, joining four teams that qualify directly from CONCACAF, UEFA, and CONMEBOL.

The final phase will take place from February 23 to March 6, 2027, with three winners securing the last spots at the Women’s World Cup in Brazil, scheduled for June 24 to July 25, 2027. Ghana aims to return to the tournament for the first time since 2007, while South Africa seeks to qualify for a third consecutive edition.
