G-100 Opposition Summit Rescheduled to August 31

The G-100 opposition group announced the rescheduling of its summit to August 31, 2023, due to the National Peace Summit taking place on August 18, 2023. This adjustment was made to facilitate further internal consultations and preparations among the political parties participating in the G-100 consultations.

A statement signed by Salihu Lukman indicated that discussions with the parties and the Minority Caucus revealed a broad consensus on the timing of the summit. The G-100 has engaged extensively with the leadership and principal stakeholders of the six participating opposition parties, as well as members of the Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives.

These consultations have been described as frank and encouraging, highlighting a serious approach from the parties towards cooperation. The G-100 expressed confidence that the summit on August 31 can lead to substantive and consequential outcomes for Nigeria's democracy.
