G100 Urges Nigerian Opposition to Unite Ahead of Summit

The G100 has called on all opposition parties in Nigeria to approach the upcoming summit on August 31, 2026, with a focus on cooperation rather than division. In a statement signed by its convener, Salihu Moh.

Lukman, the group highlighted the summit's significance for Nigeria's democracy, urging opposition leaders to demonstrate maturity and national purpose. Lukman stated that cooperation does not necessitate the surrender of party identities or ambitions but requires recognition of national interests.

The G100 warned that a fragmented opposition strengthens incumbents, as history shows that divided parties dilute their resources and votes. The summit aims to establish practical mechanisms for dialogue and coordination while respecting the identities of participating parties.

Lukman acknowledged that disagreements are natural in politics but urged leaders to prioritize the need for a credible alternative for Nigerians. He emphasized that the summit is not about declaring winners or losers but about ensuring the success of Nigerian democracy.
