G100 Proposes Four-Year Government for Nigeria's Opposition

On August 31, 2023, the G100, a coalition advocating for stronger democratic opposition in Nigeria, unveiled a framework for enhanced cooperation among opposition political parties in preparation for the 2027 general elections. This proposal was presented by Mallam Salihu Moh.

Lukman during the Summit of Nigeria’s Opposition Political Parties at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja. The summit included representatives from various parties, including the African Democratic Congress, Allied Peoples Movement, Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, Peoples Redemption Party, and Social Democratic Party.

The G100's framework proposes the establishment of a four-year Government of National Competence, emphasizing competence, integrity, national inclusion, and fair representation. The proposed government would operate under a disciplined Four-Year National Reset Programme, with political parties committing to a single four-year term through an enforceable Transition Charter.

Lukman stressed the importance of formal documentation and consequences for any breaches of agreements made by the parties involved.
