Ganduje Faces Political Decline Amid Corruption Allegations

Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State and current national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is experiencing a notable decline in his political influence. This shift is attributed to internal party dynamics and allegations of misappropriation of public funds, with Ganduje currently standing trial alongside seven others.

The trial is set to resume on October 14, 2026. His leadership is increasingly contested, particularly by Barau Jibrin, the deputy Senate president, and Ibrahim Shekarau, who rejoined the APC in April 2023 with his faction, G7.

This factionalism has resulted in a significant power shift within the party, indicating that Ganduje is no longer the dominant figure he once was. The political landscape in Kano is evolving, with former allies now positioning themselves against him, marking a critical juncture in his political career.
