Gbajabiamila Empowers Surulere Residents Amid Scandal

Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, addressed the 2026 Gbaja Mega Empowerment programme in Lagos, where he empowered 5,000 residents of Surulere with electric vehicles for e-hailing, minibuses, tricycles, and financial assistance for small businesses. He spoke about being cleared of wrongdoing by investigations conducted by the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) regarding allegations linked to his office.

Gbajabiamila reflected on the personal and professional challenges he faced due to these allegations, emphasizing the importance of integrity in public service. He commended President Tinubu for allowing due process during the investigations instead of rushing to judgment.

The controversy stemmed from inquiries into the activities of an organization not established by the federal government, leading to Gbajabiamila's appearance before ICPC investigators on July 20. A House of Representatives ad hoc committee later found no evidence linking him to the alleged organization.
