GCC Reaffirms Support for Morocco's Sahara Sovereignty

During the 8th Morocco-GCC Joint Ministerial Meeting held on Thursday in Manama via videoconference, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) reiterated its support for Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara and its commitment to the kingdom's security and territorial integrity. The statement was made by the GCC Secretary-General, Jassem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, and Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.

The council expressed a unified position on supporting Morocco's sovereignty and reaffirmed its rejection of any infringement on it. The GCC welcomed the historic decision of the UN Security Council Resolution 2797, which establishes an autonomy plan based on Moroccan sovereignty as the sole basis for resolving the regional conflict.

The council also expressed support for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General's personal envoy to facilitate negotiations based on the Moroccan autonomy initiative. This stance illustrates the GCC's solidarity with Morocco in preserving national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
