KRC Genk Considers Selling Yira Sor Before Contract Ends

KRC Genk is contemplating the sale of Yira Sor, a player who has received his first Super Eagles call-up in March 2023 for international matches against Iran and Jordan. Sor's contract with the Belgian club is set to expire at the end of the next season, and there have been no discussions regarding a contract extension.

Reports indicate that Sor is no longer guaranteed a starting position, which has led Genk to believe that selling him now would be prudent, especially as his transfer value has decreased from the initial fee of €6.5 million paid in January 2023 to approximately €3 million. This season, Sor has played 39 games, scoring six goals and providing two assists.

Meanwhile, Paul Onuachu's recent transfer has reportedly generated significant profit for Genk, and Tolu Arokodare is expected to experience his first Super Eagles camp during the international window.
