Ghana Commends Nigeria for Rescuing 44 Ghanaians

Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commended Nigeria's Department of State Services (DSS) for successfully rescuing 44 Ghanaians from a criminal network that specialized in luring unsuspecting individuals with false employment promises. The operation, which took place on March 16, 2026, involved a coordinated effort between the DSS and relevant Ghanaian institutions.

The rescued individuals, comprising 27 males and 17 females, were returned safely to Accra, Ghana's capital, on March 20, 2026. The Ghanaian government expressed sincere appreciation for Nigeria's prompt intervention and ongoing cooperation in dismantling human trafficking networks.

They also issued a warning to the public to exercise caution against fraudulent recruitment schemes, particularly those operating through social media. The Ghanaian authorities reaffirmed their commitment to protecting citizens both at home and abroad, emphasizing the need for vigilance in verifying travel and employment opportunities.
