Ghana Appoints Carlo Queiroz as Black Stars Coach

The Ghana Football Association has officially appointed Carlo Queiroz as the new head coach of the Ghana national football team, the Black Stars, in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This decision was confirmed in a statement released by the football body on Monday.

The appointment was made by the Executive Council in collaboration with key stakeholders. Queiroz, who has managed top clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester United, brings extensive international coaching experience, having previously led national teams including Portugal and Iran.

He has significant World Cup experience, having guided South Africa to qualify for the 2002 tournament and led Portugal to the knockout stage in 2010, as well as managing Iran in the 2014 and 2018 World Cups. According to the association, Queiroz will begin his work immediately to prepare Ghana for the tournament, which will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, with kickoff scheduled for June 11, 2026.

Ghana has been drawn into a group alongside England, Panama, and Croatia, with their opening match against Panama set for June 17 in Toronto, Canada.
