Ghana to Offer Visa-Free Entry for All Africans in 2026

President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana announced that the country will grant visa-free entry to all Africans beginning May 25, 2026. This announcement was made following a bilateral meeting with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa in Ghana's eastern region.

The new policy allows Africans to obtain an e-visa online at no cost, as part of a broader immigration reform initiated by President Mahama. This reform reflects Ghana's longstanding commitment to pan-African regional integration.

The President assured that adequate systems will be put in place to manage the influx of visitors and safeguard national security. This move positions Ghana among a small group of African countries that offer visa-free entry to African passport holders, aligning with broader continental efforts to promote free movement within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The policy is expected to strengthen trade links across the continent and encourage tourists, investors, and entrepreneurs to choose Ghana as a destination to help grow its economy.
