Globacom Celebrates 23 Years of Transforming Nigeria's Telecom

Globacom was founded in August 2003 by Dr Mike Adenuga Jr. and has significantly impacted Nigeria's telecommunications sector. The company introduced per-second billing, which transformed mobile communication economics and accessibility.

Globacom has progressed through technological advancements from 2.5G to 4G LTE, emphasizing that Nigeria can actively participate in technological development rather than passively consume it. A landmark achievement was the deployment of Glo-1 in 2010, a 9,800-kilometre fibre-optic submarine cable connecting Nigeria and West Africa to Europe.

This project, executed without foreign equity or consortium partners, symbolizes Nigeria's potential to build its digital infrastructure. Globacom's journey reflects a commitment to aligning with the aspirations of the Nigerian people while challenging conventional market assumptions and fostering a consumer-centric approach to telecommunications.
