Gombe 2027: No Anointed Candidate Yet, Says Misilli

Ismail Uba Misilli, the Director of General Press Affairs for the Gombe State Government, stated that Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya has not anointed a candidate for the upcoming 2027 gubernatorial election. Misilli explained that the governor is actively engaging in consultations with various stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) to foster inclusivity and party cohesion.

This clarification followed a high-level strategic meeting convened by Governor Yahaya, which included APC leaders and gubernatorial aspirants. The meeting aimed to strengthen internal unity and prepare for a consensus-driven process for candidate selection.

Misilli highlighted the importance of party discipline and the need for members to approach the political process united. The discussions proposed adopting a micro-zoning arrangement to balance competing interests and ensure equitable representation across constituencies.

Additionally, there was a call for extending consultations to local government levels to deepen grassroots participation and advocate for women's involvement in the political process.
