Gombe Court Grants Bail to Woman Over ₦60,000 Theft

On Monday, the Chief Magistrate Court No. 1 in Gombe, presided over by Chief Magistrate Musa-Saleh Kilawa, granted bail to 55-year-old Antine Amadu, who faces charges of allegedly receiving stolen property. Amadu, a resident of Dawaki Quarters, is accused of dishonestly receiving a gallon of Turkey oil valued at ₦60,000 from Ibrahim Hassan of Aniya Quarters on August 27, 2026, at approximately 1 am.

The prosecution, represented by state counsel Hafsat Aliyu, stated that the oil was reportedly stolen from Haruna Magaji of Ajiya Quarters. The charge against Amadu contravenes Section 317 of the Penal Code Law, which addresses the receiving of property known to be stolen.

Amadu pleaded not guilty to the allegations. Following her plea, the court considered her bail application and granted it, with the case adjourned until September 14, 2026, for further hearing and presentation of evidence.
