Suleiman Abba Defects from APC to PDP in Jigawa State

Suleiman Abba, the former Inspector General of Police, announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) during a rally in Bamaina, Jigawa State, on Saturday. Abba aims to represent the Jigawa South West Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

His defection was supported by former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, who described it as a significant boost for the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections. The rally showcased a large turnout, reflecting the people's desire for change, with Abba focusing his campaign on security, agriculture, and youth employment.

Lamido expressed optimism that Abba's record would enhance the credibility of the PDP. Babandi Gumel, the PDP chairman in Jigawa State, stated that the party is preparing to integrate Abba's support into its structure across the state, emphasizing that the PDP is becoming stronger in Jigawa South West.
