Gombe Governor Receives Honorary Doctorate Degree for Exemplary Leadership

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya was conferred an honorary doctorate degree by Lincoln University College Malaysia during the 18th convocation ceremony in Selangor, Malaysia. Governor Yahaya was recognized for his outstanding leadership and far-reaching development reforms that have had a lasting impact on society.

He emphasized the significance of education and the power of cross-border partnerships in his acceptance speech, drawing parallels between Nigeria and Malaysia's historical and developmental journeys. Governor Yahaya disclosed that the institution has received accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) and has established a campus in Kumo, Gombe State.

Under his administration since 2019, significant investments have been made in education, including the construction and renovation of classrooms, upgrading schools, recruiting qualified teachers, and reintegrating school children. These efforts have led to a notable improvement in student performance, with a 26% increase in the percentage of students achieving five credits, including English and Mathematics in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC) from 2019 to 2022.
