Gombe State Aquatic Sports Association Launches Board

The Gombe State Aquatic Sports Association has taken a significant step towards revitalizing water-based sports by formally inaugurating its patron board. The ceremony, held at the conference hall of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, featured the establishment of 12 strategic committees designed to drive the association's operations and ensure effective coordination of its programs.

Tijjani Jaafar, the state chairman of the association, described the inauguration as a turning point for aquatic sports development in Gombe. He revealed plans for various activities, including competitions in swimming, diving, and water polo, aimed at nurturing local talent.

Jaafar commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for fostering a supportive environment for sports growth and emphasized the need for sustained collaboration with government and private stakeholders, particularly in sponsorship and athlete welfare. The association's programs are expected to face funding challenges, but they aim to position Gombe athletes competitively on national platforms, including the upcoming National Sports Festival.
